Hidilyn Diaz chooses Angel Locsin as one of her Matrons of Honor

Angel Locsin, among other biggest names in the field of sports, politics, business and entertainment, will be part of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz’s wedding entourage on July 26, when she ties the knot with her partner and coach Julius Naranjo.

The much-anticipated wedding will take place at Saint Ignatius Chapel located in the Philippine Military Academy compound in Baguio – exactly one year after her historic win in the Tokyo Games that gave the Philippines its first-ever gold medal in the Olympics, 2020 Tokyo Games.

“We want the people present in our wedding to be those who will serve as our inspirations as we go through our marriage,” the Philippine sports explained after naming some of her celebrity wedding guests during the July 15 episode of “Level Up Exclusives,” hosted by Diaz’s manager, Noel Ferrer.

The list of their wedding entourage was then shared by Mr. Ferrer, on social media, “KEEP LISTENING TO @radyokatipunan 87.9FM (also on FB & YT) with HIDILYN & JULIUS! JULY 26 - the Anniversary of the Olympic Gold and now, the Wedding. 💗🙏 #FromGoldToForever #NaranjoDiazAhead”

Among those listed are the couple’s matrons of honor, Angel Locsin and Diaz’s nutritionist, Jeaneth Aro.

“These are our life pegs, people we hope to be able to consult if ever Julius and I encounter problems as a married couple,” Diaz added.

A-lister actress Iza Calzado will also grace the entourage being one of Diaz’s bridesmaids, while journalist Atom Araullo is among the groomsmen.

Also leading the biggest names on the list are former Vice President and Angat Buhay NGO chairperson Leni Robredo, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, and business tycoons Manny Pangilinan of Smart/PLDT and Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corp, who have been picked as the wedding’s principal sponsors.

Another business mogul Teresita Sy-Coson of SM Investment Corporations is also a principal sponsor along with renowned dermatologist-to-the-stars Vicki Belo, award-wining actress Judy Ann Santos, Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino and Bo Sanchez, among others.

Diaz met Naranjo, a Filipino-Japanese weightlifter, at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017. The soon-to-wed got engaged last October.
