Golf fans are taking note of Brian Harman’s pre-shot waggle at the Open Championship. The current leader on the board is hoping to put a bow on the first major win of his career.

This is the best he’s played in a major tournament since 2017 when he held a 54-hole lead at the US Open. He would go on to lose to Brooks Koepka on the final round.

Now, though, he finds himself all alone atop the standings, sitting four strokes ahead of the next closest player at the time of this writing. With all eyes on him this weekend, many viewers are noticing his lengthy pre-shot routine.

The constant back and forth action has drawn so much attention that NBC’s broadcast actually put up a “Waggle Tracker” ahead of Harman’s shots.

In one instance, the golfer waggled that club more than a dozen times before finally taking his swing.

Golfers use the waggle to keep their arms relaxed while lining up shots. Harman seems to take it to the extreme.

Here’s what the sports world was saying about his routine on social media.

Sportswriter Pat Forde said, “Brian Harman has the Young Sergio club waggle thing going.”

Golf writer Jason Sobel noted that this has been done throughout the golfer’s career, writing, “Enjoying all the casuals commenting on Brian Harman’s waggles, as if the man hasn’t been playing professional golf for 15 years already.”

While lengthy, it seems to be working for him. We’ll see if he can finish out his final round strong and notch the best win of his pro career.
