Clemson Baseball Takes Coward’s Way Out By Going Radio Silent During Ugly Blowout Loss

Clemson Baseball

Kennesaw State baseball began its three-game road series at Clemson with a dominant win on Friday. The Owls beat the Tigers by 17 after jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning.

However, if you were following along with the game on social media, you would have no idea how the final score came to exist. The team went completely dark on X, formerly known as Twitter, for nearly two full hours right in the middle of the game.

The silence began after the top of the third inning. Kennesaw State scored two runs to take a 5-0 lead. Clemson posted video of how its team got out of the inning without further damage.

And then it disappeared.

Whomever was in charge of the social media feed made the executive decision to call it a night. One hour and 49 minutes, and 6.5 innings went by without an additional post. The Tigers shared their next update after the 18-1 loss went final. They were absolutely roasted in the replies.

Now, credit where credit is due — Clemson posted the final score. It neglected pretty much everything else.

To not even post inning-by-inning scores is such a loser move, regardless of the reason. The Tigers were presumably trying to avoid negative replies, but they subjected themselves to greater criticism in the process. If you’re going to get beat down at home as a top-10 program, you have to own it.

Going completely dark is the most cowardly approach to social media. If the on-field action is as ugly as it was on Friday night, there is no choice but to embrace reality. Running from the embarrassment is more embarrassing than the loss itself.

College baseball fans that might not have cared about Clemson before will actively root against Clemson moving forward as result of the radio silence. That’s all it takes! So lame.
