In 2024, the Patriots brought the Bill Belichick Era to an end with a whimper instead of a bang after parting ways with their longtime head coach in the wake of the team’s third losing season in four years. However, it doesn’t sound like he’s content with riding off into the sunset based on a new report that suggests he thinks he has the chance to make a comeback with three NFL teams.

Much like it was once hard to imagine a world where Tom Brady wasn’t the quarterback of the New England Patriots, it seemed like there was a very good chance Bill Belichick would be at the helm of the franchise until he either died or decided to take a well-earned retirement.

However, that did not end up being the case. The debate over whether Brady or Belichick was more instrumental to the Patriots dynasty was firmly ended after the legendary quarterback took his talents to Tampa Bay, and the fact that his former coach didn’t even come close to picking up where they left off following the QB’s departure led to the team letting him go after 24 seasons.

There was understandably plenty of speculation other NFL teams would be more than happy to hire a man who trails only Don Shula and George Halas on the list of coaches with the most regular season wins, but he was left without a home when the most recent hiring cycle came to a close.

According to a lengthy article ESPN published on Wednesday, it appeared Belichick was a top candidate for the Falcons job before Robert Kraft called up owner Arthur Blank to warn him about his former employee’s penchant for treachery. However, that was far from the only interesting tidbit it contained.

If the outlet is to be believed, Belichick is already gearing up for vacancies he seems to think will need to be filled when the 2024 NFL campaign wraps up, as he’s reportedly interested in coaching the Giants, Eagles, or Cowboys if the opportunity arises.

At first glance, it appears he has the best chance of mounting a comeback with either New York or Dallas. It seems like Brian Daboll is on the hot seat as the Giants prepare for the return of Daniel Jones in the wake of a 6-11 season, and Jerry Jones could finally lose patience with Mike McCarthy to the curb if the Cowboys aren’t able to get over the hump.

The Eagles, on the other hand, have done pretty well for themselves under Nick Siriani, but there was plenty of speculation he was in danger of losing his job after their one-and-done showing in the playoffs. That didn’t end up being the case, but it’s not a stretch to suggest they could pull the plug if he doesn’t meet expectations.
