Whoever the Hollywood executive is that had the idea of casting Ana de Armas and Sydney Sweeney in the same movie, they deserve a raise.
Over the weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival, the pair were seen posing together for photos on the red carpet for the first time, obviously sending social media alight.
Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas aren’t the only A-list bombshell members of the cast, however, as Academy Award nominee Vanessa Kirby also features in the Ron Howard-directed film.
Eden is Sweeney’s third film of 2024, having previously starred in the instantly infamous comic book movie Madame Web and the well-received religious horror movie Immaculate.
As for the Oscar-nominated de Armas, Eden is the actress’ first role of the year, having last been seen starring in the 2023 action comedy Ghosted alongside Chris Evans.
According to de Armas, making Eden was the “scariest” production of her career due to the “crazy” nature of the character and the romantic relationships she’s involved in, including a threesome with two other island mates.
“Having this crazy threesome relationship, and being a woman of opposites — either she’s sweet and tender and fragile and nervous and scared, or she’s absolutely crazy and dangerous, it was kind of finding that limit,” de Armas said. “What was the craziest I could get? How far could I go?”
In addition to de Armas, Sweeney, and Kirby, Eden also stars Jude Law, Daniel Bruhl, Felix Kammerer, Toby Wallace, and Richard Roxburgh.
Despite its star-studded and headline-making cast, Eden has yet to secure an American distributor, meaning it does not have a release date at this time. The reviews out of the Toronto International Film Festival haven’t been all that kind, either, with Variety calling the film “terrible” in their review.
