The Cal Bears just missed out on a Top 10 upset Saturday night, falling 39-38 to ACC rival Miami. That loss was clouded by controversy, with many believing the Hurricanes were bailed out by officials for a second straight week.

Cal led the football game by 25 points as fans watched along in the third quarter of action. A furious Miami comeback would soon make things interesting, though!

The ‘Canes found the endzone three times in the final 10 minutes of play, scoring the game-winning touchdown with just 26 ticks left on the clock.

That play was one that was scrutinized after the fact.

An offensive lineman appeared to be downfield as Cam Ward found Elijah Arroyo on the five-yard score. That reception capped a drive that only began after a questionable targeting no-call forced a Bears punt.

The controversial rulings, combined with the fact that the team blew a four-score second half lead, had Cal fans reeling. It led to an ugly scene in the final moments of action.

Cal fans threw trash at Miami players.

As Hurricane players rubbed in their come-from-behind victory to angry Bears supporters, water bottles and other objects were seen flying from the stands onto the Miami sidelines.

Not the best look!

It was a long day for a number of those fans with College GameDay kicking off at 6 AM local time. Attendees then had to wait until wee hours of the night to see their fate sealed.

With the win, the Hurricanes kept College Football Playoff hopes alive. They’re now 6-0 on the season.

Cal fell to 3-2 with the loss.
