The Alabama basketball team fell to rival Auburn on Saturday, 94-85. Head coach Nate Oats had to scold the home crowd during the second half of action.

Coleman Coliseum was rocking for the No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown. The Crimson Tide saw a sellout as they looked to knock off the nation’s top-ranked team.

The pregame scenes in Tuscaloosa were incredible with College Gameday in attendance. The fanbase fully embraced the opportunity. Unfortunately, the team’s effort fell a bit short.

Auburn jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead and never trailed in the contest. That advantage would grow to as many as 14 after the halftime break, leading to frustration amongst Alabama supporters.

Trailing 55-41 after an Auburn bucket, one Crimson Tide fan was seen shoving Tigers star Chad Baker-Mazara underneath the basket. The push sparked a tense interaction on the baseline as the guard went back-and-forth with rival onlookers.

Later in the matchup, head coach Nate Oats was forced to address the crowd for its bad behavior. After watching patrons toss beverage bottles onto the floor, he promptly grabbed a microphone to scold the fanbase.

It was one of those days for the Alabama basketball team. The Crimson Tide fell short with the No. 1 ranking on the line. A typically effective offense struggled to a 5-26 output from beyond the arc. They couldn’t find a rhythm despite having the home crowd behind them.

It led to a few unfortunate scenes in Coleman Coliseum, and a distraction for Nate Oats as he tried to lead a comeback attempt. With the loss, the Crimson Tide fell to 21-4 on the season. Auburn will remain the nation’s top team for another week longer.
