A Vancouver Whitecaps fan by the name of Chris James recently experienced an unimaginable high while sitting front row at an MLS game, literally. He made a once-in-a-lifetime catch while tripping on mushrooms.
The whole thing was captured on live television!
James, a Canada-based comedian, is born and raised in Vancouver. His hometown always had a professional soccer team growing up but it did not make the jump to MLS until 2009. The Whitecaps eventually played their first season on the highest level of North American soccer in 2011. I digress.
James pulled up to watch Vancouver host Montreal at B.C. Place in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup on Wednesday. He even ended up in some pretty sweet seats, which put him right on the pitch, and popped a couple of mushroom caps for the Caps.
Took some mushrooms and went to the whitecaps game last night…

Little did he know, the subsequent decisions were going to change his life forever. James will be talking about that game until the day he dies even though it finished in an underwhelming 1-1 draw. The incredible moment had nothing to do with the result.
At some point during the 90-minute match, a Whitecaps player tried to settle an errant pass near the sideline— right in front of James. He was unable to get the ball under full control, which allowed for a Montreal defender to step in and knock it out of play.
James, who was already riding the high of a magic mushroom microdose, stuck out his left arm in an attempt to catch the loose ball before it flew into the stands behind him. It was a great success!

Most people can only dream of making this kind of clutch play with the eyes of an entire province upon them. I would NEVER shut up if I pulled off a sick one-handed catch on a national television broadcast. To do so while also on shrooms is a high that cannot be matched.
