Angel Reese Proves She Wants Credit Without Conversation By Rejecting Caitlin Clark Question

Angel Reese Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese does not want to discuss Caitlin Clark as a second-year player even though she was the one who could not keep the WNBA Rookie of the Year’s name out of her mouth as a rookie. The 23-year-old looked visibly annoyed by a question she brought upon herself and refused to answer.

Her disconnect from reality is astonishing!

Reese, drafted No. 7 overall by the Chicago Sky in 2024, averaged a double-double during her rookie season in the WNBA. Although she had her shooting woes, there is no doubt that she is one of the league’s brightest stars. She is a household name. People want to watch her play.

However, it would be silly to ignore the reality of the situation. The WNBA is more popular than ever because of Caitlin Clark. The reigning Rookie of the Year is already the biggest star in women’s basketball history and the numbers are there to back it up. Ratings are at their highest when Clark is on the court. In-person fan attendance reflects the same truth.

Even though Clark is the primary draw to the WNBA, Reese made a big stink about the lack of attention and recognition for other players in June. She, with a scowl on her face, snapped at a reporter because “people watch the WNBA for her too, not just one person.”

Although her argument is true to some extent, it was presented unprompted with a nasty tone and it ignores reality. Some people do watch the WNBA because of Angel Reese! But most new fans watch the WNBA because of one person. Let’s call it how it is.

Reese was the one to make the discussion point about her role in the rise of the WNBA last season. And yet she refused to answer a question about her comments at a recent press conference.

The reporter tried to ask Reese about her “powerful statement” but Reese shut him down before he could finish his question. “Next question,” she snapped.

I don’t get it. Angel Reese said that she wants people to realize that she is just as important to the WNBA as Caitlin Clark but she refuses to answer a question about something she said. Make it make sense!

I understand her desire not to create another “controversy” with whatever she was going to say. I understand that she wants to focus on basketball. It is not the first time an athlete has decided not to answer a question. It won’t be the last.

But she was the one to bring it up in the first place… And now she doesn’t want to talk about it?! Angel Reese wants the credit but not the conversation.
