SEC baseball rivals Arkansas and Tennessee squared off in NCAA Tournament play this weekend with a trip to Omaha on the line. Bad blood between the two sides has been very visible throughout the first two games.

Tempers flared in the series opener on Saturday. Words were exchanged. The teams do not like one another.

At one point in the contest, Arkansas pitcher Zach Root was seen shouting at Tennessee hitter Andrew Fischer after recording an out. Fischer, who previously made waves for his own on-field antics during regional play, wasn’t happy.

Both teams received warnings for their roles. The tension continued throughout the entirety of the contest, which the Razorbacks won 4-3. It resurfaced again on Sunday.

Charles Davalan put the Hogs up early against the Vols with a two-run blast in the top of the third inning. It broke a scoreless tie. He celebrated with a vicious bat flip before strutting down the first base line.

The Razorbacks would later add to the lead with a fourth inning grand slam to go up by a score of 7-1. Should that result remain, Arkansas will advance to the College World Series.

Tennessee took a regular season series from the Razorbacks in Fayetteville earlier this year. Arkansas is looking to get revenge. They’re one win away from Omaha. Players can feel the opportunity getting closer. They’d love nothing more than to end a rival’s season on Sunday.
