Denver Broncos running back Audric Estime was trending toward unemployment at the start of training camp. The second-year NFL player has since checked his attitude and changed the narrative.
It sounds like he is slowly working his way back up the depth chart after some initial frustration.
Former NFL ball-carrier Phillip Linday’s criticism might’ve been the motivation he needed to get going. Estime went from a walking red flag to a standout star in just a few days.
Who is Audric Estime?
Estime, whose name is technically spelled with an accent on the second e as Estimé, played college football at Notre Dame. The 5-foot-11, 227-pound running back totaled 2,321 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on 373 carries in three years, including his 1,341-yard season in 2023.
Denver drafted the Fighting Irish star with the No. 147 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He ran for 310 yards and two touchdowns with two fumbles on 76 carries as a rookie.
Audric Estime finished as the fourth-leading rusher on the team.
It was an okay year. Not a good year. Not a great year. Just okay.
The depth chart looks different in 2025.
As things currently stand, R.J Harvey and J.K. Dobbins are likely to get the majority of touches for the Denver Broncos this season. Jaleel McLaughlin and Estime will also mix in to the rotation.
It seemed as though Estime was at the bottom of the totem pole when training camp first got underway. He was going to be the fourth of four running backs on the depth chart.
Lindsay, who ran for 1,000+ yards in back-to-back seasons with the Broncos, said on his Denver-based radio show that the second-year running back was “pouting” during practice. Estime was supposedly upset with his role in the crowded backfield.

That narrative has completely changed in recent days.
Audric Estime went from a serious cut risk to one of the breakout stars of training camp. Sean Payton and Joe Lombardi are giving him a lot of situational reps and he is making the most of his opportunities.
“Audric Estime has no quit,” wrote Anthony Rodriguez. “Continues to bowling ball his way for extra yards when you think he’s swallowed up for nothing. He’s had a good camp.”
Andrew Mason said he is “making a push for the roster with strong work.” Denver’s second-year head coach also acknowledged that Estime “stacked a couple of days.”
One particular run stood out. Unfortunately, it was not caught on film.
Phillip Lindsay and his co-host made sure to give Estime his flowers after the initial criticism.

Maybe it was Lindsay who lit a fire under Audric Estime. Maybe the comments were premature.
Either way, he checked his attitude at the door and got to work!
