Arch Manning is taking responsibility for Texas’ loss against Ohio State. In the Longhorns’ season opener, Manning struggled and went 17/30 with 170 passing yards in the loss.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian believes the hype around Arch got a bit out of control before his first big primetime game as a starter.
“For Arch, the expectations were out of control on the outside,” Sarkisian said. “I’d say let’s finish the book before we judge him. That’s one chapter.”
“I felt like Arch had a good time in the pocket to throw it,” Sarkisian said. “I felt like we were moving the line of scrimmage, we were running the ball. We just didn’t create explosive plays early in the game like we did in the second half of the game. … I think we could have thrown it better than we did, but we didn’t throw it the way we wanted to because of the O-line. I thought the O-line gave us ample protection and opportunities to throw the ball down the field.”
As for Arch, he took the blame for not getting the ball down the field earlier in the game.
“It took us too long to get the ball down the field,” Manning said. “That starts with me. … They’re a good team, but I thought we beat ourselves a lot. That starts with me, and I’ve got to play better for us to win.”
“Can’t wait till the second half to kind of get things going,” Manning said. ” … It didn’t start fast enough. Took a whole half for us to kind of get the ball down the field. So that starts with me. Gotta get back to square one and then get back Monday and go prepare for San Jose State.”
