Star quarterback Carson Beck shined in his Miami debut. The passer threw for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns to help the Hurricanes down Notre Dame.
After the game, he spoke on what motivated him to perform. Undeserved criticism at his previous stop played the largest role.
Beck is entering his final NCAA season. He spent five years at Georgia, leading the team to an SEC championship last season.
Unfortunately, he was unable to complete the title game after being injured at halftime. His replacement, Gunner Stockton, entered the matchup and led the Bulldogs to a victory.
Many around the program agreed it was time to move on from Beck and begin a new era.
Carson Beck was squeezed out at Georgia.
Beck led the conference in passing as a fourth-year junior. He led the league in interceptions as a senior.
His play was inconsistent in his final season with the program. While he racked up a second consecutive 3,000-yard campaign and set a new career-high for touchdown passes, his performance was largely criticized.
Turnovers were the main talking point, but the numbers didn’t necessarily tell the whole story.
The Bulldogs’ receiving corps led the SEC in drops. A number of times, Beck made the right reads only to miss out on a big play because of his teammates.

The Georgia run game also struggled last season. A 124-yard per game average was easily the worst of the Kirby Smart era.
With no help on either front, Beck forced throws in hopes of making things happen. It led to the high interception rate.
Miami receivers showed the criticism was not deserved.
The Hurricanes’ offense rolled with Carson Beck at the helm. It didn’t miss a beat after losing Cam Ward.
Miami racked up 27 points against a Notre Dame unit that ranked fifth in the nation in scoring last season. The wide receiving room was a huge factor.

Beck made some great throws. Receivers helped him out, too, with some incredible catches. The most notable was CJ Daniels’ one-handed catch just before halftime that gave the Hurricanes a 14-7 lead.
Beck lasered a throw in between two defenders at the goal line. It was one that might’ve been dropped or intercepted last season. It was a touchdown in 2025. The passer credited his teammates and film prep after the fact.
“TALK IS CHEAP, ACTION IS EXPENSIVE.”

“They made plays for me, and that makes my job a lot easier,” he said following the win. That help was certainly welcomed given the result from last year.
Beck referenced his exit from Athens after the game.
The quarterback posted a message on his Instagram story when the result went final. A fan asked him, “What motivates you more than anything?”
“Disrespect,” he replied.

Carson Beck was forced out at Georgia. Fans placed their criticism in the wrong direction.
The signal caller proved his old school wrong with a stellar performance against a Top 10 foe. He’ll look to continue the momentum and get the Hurricanes to the College Football Playoff this season.
