Jimmy Kimmel returned to the ABC airwaves on Tuesday night following his brief suspension and delivered a much-anticipated monologue that addressed the situation. And while much of the attention has been paid to what Kimmel said about Donald Trump, the late night host also offered a touching olive branch of humanity to Erika Kirk.
During his monologue on Tuesday, September 23, Jimmy Kimmel got choked up with emotion a handful of times, with one of those moments coming as he praised Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika for saying she forgives Kirk’s alleged killer, Tyler James Robinson.
Kimmel, who tried to relate to Charlie Kirk’s wife and his supporters as a fellow Christian, said that Erika’s forgiveness is an “example” that we all should follow. In a darker note, Kimmel also related to Kirk as he revealed that he, too, receives consistent threats against his life.

“If you believe in the teachings of Jesus as I do, there it was. That’s it, a selfless act of grace, forgiveness from a grieving widow, that touched me deeply. And I hope it touches many and if there’s anything we should take from this tragedy to carry forward, I hope it can be that and not this,” Kimmel said.

In addition to his emotional tribute to Erika Kirk and his shots at Donald Trump, Kimmel also took aim at FCC chairman Brendan Carr and thanked everyone who reached out to him to share their support.
“Maybe most of all, I want to thank the people who don’t support my show and what I believe but support my right to share those beliefs anyway,” he added.
Kimmel’s show will return on Wednesday, September 24, with Ethan Hawke, Lisa Ann Walter and musical guest YUNGBLUD.
