Dwayne Johnson has no illusions about his MMA skills. For the past two years, The Rock has been training intensively in MMA for his role as Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine.
‘Combat sports and MMA is new to me,’ Johnson admitted in May 2024. ‘I have a base in wrestling, from pro wrestling and a little bit of amateur wrestling, but this is a whole new world and I approach this with a boundless amount of respect for the fighters. I’ve been working my ass off, this is truly a team effort to be able to do something like this.’

On Wednesday, The Rock told Complex Sports he would fight Jon Jones if he ever took on a UFC fight, but admitted that Jones would beat him up badly in the Octagon.
“I got to go with the Heavyweight Champion, Tom Aspinall. I got to go with him, it’s either at the top or … you know what, I’m gonna walk that back, I’m going with Jon Jones. Me, Jon Jones, guarantee he knocks my jaw into another zip code. He f–ks me up.”

Jones appreciated The Rock’s honesty.
