Floridians are having fun with all the frozen iguanas.
Over the weekend, temperatures in South Florida dipped below 40 degrees amid a historic cold front.
When temperatures in South Florida drop to near-freezing levels, green iguanas can become stunned and fall from trees due to temporary muscle paralysis from the cold.
While many in South Florida are collecting iguanas to turn them in to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, others are using the opportunity to make funny social media videos with them.
One social media user, StacKz, generated over 4 million views when he covered himself with dozens of frozen iguanas.

While people in South Florida are messing with the frozen iguanas, state officials are pleading with locals to turn in the nonnative iguanas so they can be eradicated.
“We haven’t had this kind of weather for about 15 years and the iguana population really has expanded a lot and they are having a very negative impact on the environment,” said Thomas Reinert, FWC regional director for the southern region of Florida. “They are having an impact and this is a unique opportunity to collect them when they are easy to get.”
The FWC has listed several drop-off sites on its website and is encouraging people to turn in the invasive iguanas.

) guests that may have fallen out of trees, a new Executive Order allows you to remove these nonnative reptiles from your property and bring them to an FWC office tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 2 – no permit required!
REMEMBER: The iguanas must be contained in a secure, escape-proof, cloth sack or bag. Only cloth sacks or bags may be used for primary containment to ensure breathability, and they must be securely closed shut.
