What in the world is going on in Ann Arbor?
The Michigan Wolverines returned to the college football mountaintop with a national championship this past season.
But just two months later, the Michigan program appears in turmoil after yet another position coach has opted to leave his post.

Doug Samuels of Football Scoop reports that Wolverines’ defensive line coach Greg Scruggs resigned on Thursday. Scruggs, an NFL veteran, only recently joined the program after spending the 2023 season on staff with Wisconsin.
He was arrested late last week in Ann Arbor for driving while intoxicated.
“I just received notice that Greg Scruggs has resigned his position, effective immediately. I am unable to comment further as this is a University matter,” head coach Sherrone Moore said in a statement.

Moore, of course, took over for previous head coach Jim Harbaugh after Harbaugh left for the NFL and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Harbaugh also took Michigan assistants Jesse Minter, Mike Elston and Steve Clinkscale with him. While former Michigan special teams and safeties coach Jay Harbaugh left for the Seattle Seahawks.
Meanwhile, Moore made the controversial call to cut ties with running backs coach and Michigan alum Mike Hart. He then made a blockbuster move by luring away former Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford.
That hire appeared to round out the Wolverines’ staff for the 2024 season. But that was before the news of Scruggs’ arrest and subsequent resignation.
Moore also bears the burden of replacing a number of key contributors on the field who left either for the NFL Draft or transfer portal.
Michigan still has one of the top rosters in the Big Ten, if not the entire country. But things have been anything but smooth for the Wolverines since winning their first national championship in 27 years.
