It’s been close to 4,000 days since EA Sports released the last installment of the NCAA Football franchise, and more than a decade later, it’s preparing to get back into the game with College Football 25.

We’re still a couple of months away from the day we’ll be able to play the video game, but we’ve been treated to the biggest development yet now that the first official gameplay trailer has arrived.

It’s hard to believe it’s been more than four years since EA Sports announced it would be resurrecting the series it decided to abandon in the wake of O’Bannon vs. NCAA, the Supreme Court case that ruled the video game developer had illegally harnessed the name, image, and likeness of the players it included in its college sports titles.

That all changed when the NIL Era permanently altered the landscape of college sports, and EA Sports took full advantage while gearing up for the release of College Football 25.

As of last week, more than 12,800 players had inked NIL deals to appear in the game in exchange for $600 and a copy of College Football 25, which we recently learned will be released on July 19th (although players can get three days of early access if they’re willing to shell out a $30 premium).

We’ve been treated to a steady trickle of information concerning what’s in store, but on Friday, we got our most exhaustive look to date when EA Sports dropped the long-awaited gameplay trailer for one of the most highly anticipated games to come out in recent memory.

EA Sports stressed it was going to great lengths to capture the essence of the gameday experience, and at first glance, it looked like they nailed it based on the number of classic traditions that were incorporated on top of signature touches like turnover celebrations.

The graphics also look fantastic, as College Football 25 is certainly taking full advantage of the current generation of consoles.

According to The Athletic, the game will feature the beloved Dynasty Mode, a “Road To Glory” option that allows you to navigate the career of an individual player, and a new online option dubbed the “Road To The College Football Playoff” along with the college football equivalent of Ultimate Team.

The outlet notes there will also be a stats progression system that takes strain and fatigue into account as well as the return of the home-field advantage feature that shakes the screen and messes with play calls during big moments in enemy territory.

July can’t come soon enough.
