The Central Florida football team made a splash in the transfer portal over the offseason by adding former SEC signal caller KJ Jefferson. After making 45 appearances under center for the Arkansas Razorbacks, he’ll now test his luck in the Big XII.
Jefferson will provide head coach Gus Malzahn a veteran presence in the backfield while also allowing for variety in play calling given his versatility as both a passer and runner.
Essentially, the playbook should be wide open considering experience and production, which could make the Knights’ offense deadly this fall.
For that reason, Jefferson was voted the Big XII’s Preseason Newcomer of the Year with many expecting a big year in Orlando.
Despite the praise, he still feels a bit disrespected as the season approaches.
Skip Bayless hyped Shedeur Sanders this offseason, which KJ Jefferson is using as motivation.
The FOX Sports host had the following to say during an episode of Undisputed last month:
“Shedeur is not just the best QB in that conference, but he’s the best QB in the country. He is going to be the first pick in the draft, and I think he’s going to be really, really good in pro football. He’s as seasoned and experienced a college quarterback as you are going to get.”
While Bayless never mentioned Jefferson in his analysis, the UCF passer took personal offense. He’s now printed the quote out to use as bulletin board material, hanging it in his locker where it can be seen each day.

Most would likely agree with Bayless’s assessment, but that won’t stop Jefferson from seeking motivation in his final collegiate season. It should make a matchup between the Knights and Buffs in late September all the more exciting!
