College Gameday will be in College Station this Saturday when Texas A&M takes on Notre Dame. A popular former Aggie will be on hand as guest picker in the show’s final moments.

Johnny Manziel will join Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso, and Rece Davis on set to hand out his predictions of how the Week 1 action will unfold.

The show announced its guest on Thursday with a post on social media.

Manziel is a controversial figure in many ways given his incredible on-field production and troubled off-field past. The former Heisman trophy winner helped the Aggies reach national prominence in their first SEC season back in 2012.

Producing one of the top freshman campaigns in NCAA history, the signal caller threw for 3,706 yards and 26 scores. He added 1,410 yards on the ground, amassing another 21 touchdowns.

In the process, he knocked off the likes of Auburn, Alabama, and Oklahoma to lead the Ags to 11 wins.

Absolutely electric!

After being picked in the first round by the Cleveland Browns, though, things fell apart.

Struggles with addiction and depression plagued his professional career, which came to an early end. He played his last NFL game in 2015, and since, has been trying to right the ship. Those efforts have paid off!

Taking on a new professional role in 2024, he’ll be paid for his college football insights.

It was recently revealed that he’d been hired as a betting analyst on a popular podcast for the coming season. We’ll see how he fares in Year 1.

For those who will be in College Station this weekend and would like to link up with the former Aggie after he makes those College Gameday picks, he’ll be hosting a tailgate outside the stadium.

Last week’s guest picker, Sheamus, correctly picked Georgia Tech to beat Florida State. That put him at a perfect 1-0 to start the year, though he has three picks remaining on Thursday night action this week.

We’ll see if Johnny Manziel can best his predecessor in Week 1. The quarterback-turned-betting-analyst will be put to the immediate test on Saturday!
