Does your favorite college football program have a big home game coming up?
If so, you might want to call Gary Morse and make sure he has a ticket.
Who is Gary Morse? Well, he’s one of the nation’s top baseball recruits in the class of 2026 and also, apparently, college football’s ultimate good luck charm.
Morse, a 6-foot-8 right-handed pitcher out of Orange Lutheran High School in California took recruiting visits to Vanderbilt, Oregon and Tennessee in the last three weeks and got to witness all three football programs pick up massive victories. He also stormed the field after each of the three wins.
It began with the Commodores upsetting Alabama for the first time in 40 years. He then watched the Ducks down Ohio State, before following it with a trip to Tennessee to watch the Vols down rival Alabama (again).
Morse spoke with Grace Raynor of The Athletic recently to relive his wild few weeks.

“I won’t lie to you,” Morse told Raynor. “I’m living my best life.”
But one of the experiences stood out above the rest.
“I’d say I loved all of (the field storms),” he said. “They’re all super cool experiences. But I’m gonna say the Vanderbilt one was the best just because of how that usually never happens and it being the first one. The first one’s kind of the best one.”
After the third week, Morse realized that he may well have made history.
“I was like, ‘Dad, three weekends in a row, storming the field? Not only does that have to be a record in a row but just for a recruit in general, that has to be a record to storm the field three times,’” Morse said. “And then even more we were thinking, ‘Hold on. Has anyone stormed the field three times in their lifetime? Maybe a couple of superfans who have attended a bunch of games over the years, but even then you’d be super lucky to storm the field three times.
“I’m batting 1.000.”
Morse also visited Texas A&M for the Aggies’ win over Bowling Green. But he left that game early with the result in hand. He’s set to visit LSU and Texas as well to close out his schedule. Although he did not say when he’ll make those visits.
Morse all didn’t publicly declare a leader. But he hasn’t considered forgoing baseball to become a professional good-luck charm.
“I don’t know,” he said. “If I keep storming the field, I might just have to become a professional official visitor.”
What a legend
