In case you missed it, the NBA kicked off its 79th season on Tuesday with a couple of games in Boston and Los Angeles.

But if you were looking for some expert analysis on the games or the rest of the 2024-25 NBA season on The Pat McAfee Show today, you would have been disappointed.

That is because despite working for ESPN, the largest sports network on the planet, Pat McAfee put out a message on social media on Wednesday asking for some help finding an NBA expert willing to appear on his show.

“I need an NBA expert(s) for the progrum… not everyday.. just someone to FaceTime periodically thru the season,” McAfee wrote on X (Twitter).

“I will pay, because I pay everybody for their contributions to our show.

“Obviously.. when licensing our show thru ESPN, we thought it’d be easy to get NBA folks from the ESPN roster.. That has not been the case.. The @ESPNNBA crew has been rather impossible to work with due to their daily scheduling during season.. afternoons are TOUGH for the entire group.

“Sooooo… Which ex-NBA players do you think would be a great representative of the Association on our dumb a– show?”

One, how happy do you think ESPN is with Pat McAfee publicly telling everyone that he can’t get a single ESPN NBA expert to appear on his show (the show the company is paying $85 million to air on their networks)?

Two, how is is possible that not one single ESPN NBA expert is available? Yes, they are busy, as Pat McAfee pointed out, but he’s only looking for short appearances on the show from a remote location every once in a while. It shouldn’t be that hard to get someone who works for the same company to help out, should it?

Of course, the internet being the internet, there was no shortage of suggestions…

“Get Ron Artest in there ASAP,” one person replied.

“I would recommend Michael Jordan,” said another very helpful fan.

“Wait a year and get Charles Barkley,” read another comment, as if that too would ever happen.

Other suggestions included Former NBA players Rasheed Wallace, Isiah Thomas, Eddie Johnson, Brian Scalabrine, Kwame Brown, Dennis Rodman, Vernon Maxwell, Chris Anderson, Andre Iguodala, Paul Pierce, Jason Williams, Jamal Crawford, and Jeff Teague… a lot of people want Jeff Teague.
