Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank has been sued by two flight attendants who claim he gave his much-younger girlfriend preferential treatment. The flight attendants were employed to work on the Home Depot founder’s private jet at the time of their claims.
The lawsuit claims Arthur Blank hired the woman who was half his age to work as a flight attendant aboard his private jet while they were “in a romantic relationship.” It also claims that the other two flight attendants, Adele Pearson and Samantha Carlisle, were then forced to work unpaid overtime to make up for the the woman’s deficiencies.
The New York Post reports that the lawsuit also alleges that the flight group for Blank’s family office, AMBFO, “was a dysfunctional and poorly run business unit that hired and retained incompetent employees solely because they had sexual relationships with Blank or supervisors.”
The now 82-year-old Arthur Blank was allegedly in a relationship with with 42-year-old Christie Buice, who allegedly “provided only limited support” because AMBFO “allowed her to be scheduled on flights only if Blank was the only person traveling on the aircraft.”
As a result, Pearson and Carlisle claim they were “regularly required to work far more than 40 hours per week due to their heavy workload” to “cover up [Buice’s] deficiencies and handle the vast majority of the flights for AMBFO.”
They also allege they “perform various personal errands for Blank or his family members” in addition to their duties as flight attendants. They say these extra duties forced them to work “in excess of 70 hours per week” and sometimes up to 90 hours in a week. They also say they had to work 26 days a month for several months, but AMBFO “falsified time records.”
Pearson and Carlisle also state in the lawsuit that another employee on the AMBFO payroll was “similarly incapable of performing her duties,” but was only employed because she was “in a romantic relationship with the director of aviation.”
