Hansel Enmanuel does not let his disability define him. The one-armed college basketball phenom played a significant role in Austin Peay’s massive upset win over Butler on Friday.
He finished with three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes and scored his lone points of the evening on an emphatic, rim-rattling dunk.
Although that stat line may not jump out off of the page, Enmanuel is invaluable in his role as the primary ball-handler. The 6-foot-6 junior typically starts at point guard for the Governors and serves as the floor general.
Well, actually, that title might best apply to head coach Corey Gipson, who coached the game in fatigues.

Anyway, back to Enmanuel… A pile of cinderblocks fell on top of him at the age of six in his home country of the Dominican Republic. The injury forced doctors to amputate his arm just below his shoulder.
That did not stop Enmanuel from living out his college basketball dreams! He was a star in high school.
As a result of his strong play, the Virginia standout earned scholarship offers from Bethune-Cookman, Memphis, Tennessee State and Northwestern State. Enmanuel ultimately chose to play for the lattermost program and spent his freshman season in Natchitoches.
The Demons did not afford him very much playing time so he hit the transfer portal and landed at Austin Peay. His sophomore year was an overwhelming success. It even featured a massive poster dunk!
2024 is off to an equally as strong start. The Governors took down the Bulldogs at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indiana on Friday night to begin the year at 2-0.
Although Hansel Enmanuel scored only two points, they were two monstrous points!
HANSEL. EMMANUEL.

The best guards in college basketball would struggle to execute that sequence with two hands. Enmanuel is doing it with one.
And if Friday is any indication, the Govs are a team to watch out of the ASUN!
