Ohio State Fans Have Reached The Acceptance Stage With Ryan Day And It’s Just Kind Of Sad

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day

The Ohio State Buckeyes have a very, very big problem in the form of head coach Ryan Day. On one hand, only Georgia and Kirby Smart have won more college football games since 2019. On the other, Day cannot seem to beat the Michigan Wolverines.

That’s a major problem when you consider that outside of national championships (of which Day has zero), beating Michigan is the one thing that Ohio State fans care about. Day is 1-4 against the Wolverines and has lost four consecutive games, including his most embarrassing loss yet to a 5-6 Michigan team this season.

Ohio State fans were understandably furious. The Buckeyes were 20.5-point favorites at home against the Michigan team with an absolutely putrid offense and Day just could not get the job done. But as time has gone on, Buckeyes have gone through all seven stages of grief. And now it appears that they have reached the final stage: acceptance.

Ohio State Fans Have Accepted That Ryan Day Is Here To Stay Despite His Failings

Users over at Bucknuts, 247Sports’ Ohio State message board, have come around on the fact that they must just accept that Day is a giant loser good coach who just can’t seem to beat Michigan. But the Buckeyes should trudge ahead with him because who are they going to replace him that is guaranteed to have more success.

Logically, their arguments make sense. Day recruits like gangbusters and wins a ton of games (against everybody not named Michigan). Ultimately, that should be a good recipe for success. But when your season is measure by national championships and wins over Michigan, Day is 1-9 is his career. There aren’t many coaches who could survive. But it appears that Day will, and Michigan fans could not possibly be any happier about it.
