Elliot Cadeau will not be a member of the North Carolina basketball team next year. The sophomore point guard entered the transfer portal this week and will look for a new home.

He added a “Do not contact” tag to that transfer decision. His brother clarified his situation with the Tar Heels on Tuesday.

Justin Cadeau is a popular Twitch streamer boasting 22.5K followers on the site. He broke down his brother’s portal entry amid wild rumors of outrageous NIL demands.

I can’t really speak on Elliot’s side of things, that’s for him to speak on. But I can tell y’all, you know, why me and people close to me thought that, you know, he should no longer stay at that school.

First off, the first thing I wanna say, Elliot did not ask anyone for $2 million. If you think Elliot cares about money, you’re stupid. There’s a rumor going around that he asked for 2 million from UNC. He did not ask that. It’s so obvious that this is a rumor just to farm hate and have a cop out for Elliot leaving.

Whispers of a $2 million NIL ask surfaced as Elliot Cadeau hit the portal. Social media claims that those demands went unanswered, leading to the transfer decision.

Justin Cadeau did his best to quiet that narrative with his online explanation. Instead, he says North Carolina was never a fit for the basketball star.

I’ll say, you know, as a brother, the coaches just didn’t have much belief in Elliot. It was at the point, you know, Elliot’s shooting in a game, he missed a shot and coach is taking him right out… You know what that does to a kid’s confidence? He’s shooting the ball, he would miss and he’d automatically be out of the game.

The UNC system I just think wasn’t for Elliot. I don’t know if y’all watch, but at UNC, they don’t shoot midranges. The coaches think a midrange is a bad shot, which was one of Elliot’s best shots.

The Tar Heels made the NCAA Tournament with Elliot Cadeau running the point. They blasted San Diego State in the play-in round before losing to Sweet 16 squad Ole Miss.

Many were critical of the committee’s decision to include North Carolina in the field due to struggles throughout the regular season. Still, came just eight points shy of the Round of 32.

At seasons’ end, Cadeau was asked about his future with the program. He initially said that he wanted to stay.

“Yeah, but there’s a lot of stuff that goes into it,” he replied when pressed about returning to the Tar Heels. Cadeau averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 assists as a sophomore. He nearly recorded a double-double in the NCAA Tournament opener with nine points and 12 dimes.

He also led the ACC in turnovers. Throughout the year, the fanbase ripped his play, including a few notable North Carolina basketball alum.

Unfortunately, his shooting woes reared their ugly head again in his latest performance. He went cold in the season-ending loss to the Rebels, shooting 1-of-8 from the field. It looks like that will be his last game in a Tar Heels uniform.
