Caitlin Clark’s seismic impact on the WNBA’s ratings don’t show any signs of hitting a sophomore slump, as the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky matchup on Saturday pulled in more viewers than the New York Mets vs. New York Yankees did on Sunday night.

According to reports, the Indiana Fever versus Chicago Sky game that aired on ABC on Saturday, May 17 — the first game of the season for both teams — was watched by 2.7 million people. The following night on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, the third and final game in the Mets-Yankees series brought in 2.5 million viewers.

Saturday’s Indiana versus Chicago matchup saw Caitlin Clark’s Fever dominate Angel Reese’s Sky by a score of 93 to 58. Reese had 12 points, 17 rebounds and 1 assist, while Clark had a triple-double, posting 20 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds.

It was the third triple-double of Clark’s young WNBA career, which puts her third on the all-time list behind Alyssa Thomas (15) and Sabrina Ionescu (4).

Now, baseball has long been a regional sport, so it struggling to pull in a national audience certainly isn’t anything new. But not only is this the Mets versus Yankees we’re talking about, but it marked Juan Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium after choosing the Mets in the offseason, which has been one of the biggest sports stories of the year so far.

The Fever stumbled in their second game of the season against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night, losing the game by a score of 91-90 despite 27-11-5 from Clark and another 24-10-4 from fellow former #1 overall pick Aliyah Boston.
