Chris Brown has found himself in jail after flying to London this week. And he will be there until at least a June 13 hearing over an alleged nightclub attack that took place in 2023.

DailyMail.com reports Greater Manchester Police arrested Brown on behalf of the Metropolitan Police after he flew into Manchester Airport on a private jet. He was detained at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, taken into police custody and charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm.

The alleged incident took place at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair in February 2023 while Brown was on tour in the United Kingdom. Brown is charged with attacking music producer Abe Diaw. Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls told the court that Chris Brown made an “unprovoked attack” on Diaw, striking him several times with a bottle. The alleged attack was said to have been captured on CCTV in a club “full of people.”

“The defendant then pursued him to a separate area of the nightclub where the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly by him and another,” Nicholls told the court.

Diaw is also suing Brown in civil court for $16 million in damages for injuries and losses suffered as a result of the alleged attack.

“We can confirm that Chris Brown was involved in an incident with our client, and the injuries sustained are serious,” Diaw’s attorney Ryan J. Daneshrad told the New York Daily News. “We are pursuing all legal remedies to hold him accountable. At this time, we will let the facts speak for themselves through the proper legal channels.”

The 36-year-old Brown was ordered to be held in custody until his next hearing on June 13 at Southwark Crown Court in London. He had been scheduled to begin a concert tour with Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker, and Bryson Tiller on June 8 in Amsterdam. On June 13, the tour is supposed to be in Frankfurt, Germany. He is also scheduled to play ten dates in Great Britain, beginning on June 15. That all has now been thrown into jeopardy.

Defense attorney Grace Forbes asked to court to grant Chris Brown bail, claiming he isn’t a flight risk. Judge Joanne Hirst rejected the request after prosecutor Nicholls called the crime “extremely serious.”
