The Chicago Sky have played six regular season games in the 2025 campaign. The team is 2-4 but now finds itself on a two-game winning streak.
Angel Reese has been a topic of conversation throughout the year. On and off-court drama has been attached to her name.
The Sky opened up the season against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Chicago fell in blowout fashion, 93-58.
At one point in the contest, Reese was seen visibly frustrated after a hard foul by her nemesis. She went after Clark, getting wrapped up in the emotion of the game.
Both players agreed it was a good basketball play after the fact. Reese overreacted amid her team’s struggles in that opener.
The play, however, would have an even larger impact. It sparked a social media debate, which only continued after the WNBA launched an investigation into potential racist comments directed at Reese while in Indiana. The league found no evidence of bad behavior.
Angel Reese continues to make headlines.
The off-the-court drama has kept Reese’s name top of mind this WNBA season. Her on-court play has led to further attention.
Reese’s shooting has been a talking point throughout her young career. Her inability to consistently make layups is at the root of the cause.
The forward became the fastest player in league history to record 500 points and 500 boards. Unfortunately, an asterisk has been placed on the stat.
A significant portion of her rebounds have come from her own misses down low. It was something pointed out by viewers during her rookie year, and it’s only continued into Season 2.
Reese is only connecting on 33% of her layups, well below the WNBA average of 65%. She’s averaging three makes and seven misses per game on her two-point attempts thus far.
It’s gotten to the point that one group of gamblers is betting on her failure. The bettors have played a diabolical prop bet through the season’s first six games. It’s been quite profitable!

Prop bets have been placed on Angel Reese missing her first shot in each game this year. Five of the first six tries, the wager has hit.
Reese made her first bucket of the year in that blowout loss to Indiana. She’s now missed her first shot in five straight games. The latest came of the airball variety as she whiffed on everything with an open jump shot.
Expect another bet to be placed on Game 7 when Chicago takes on the Fever for a second time.
