NBC analyst Kevin Kisner is making headlines for the wrong reasons as the British Open comes to a close. The golf personality placed blame on the USGA while referencing a destructive incident involving Wyndham Clark.

He’s catching tons of heat on social media for the questionable take.

Clark went viral during the US Open for battering lockers at the Oakmont Country Club. The golfer took out his frustrations in the form of vandalism after missing the cut.

He offered an apology after the fact but still landed a ban from the venue.

“I made a mistake that I deeply regret. I’m very sorry for what happened.”

Wyndham Clark needs to pay restitution

Oakmont sent a letter to its members informing them that Clark has been banned from the property until he offers some sort of repayment.

“Several of you have inquired about the situation involving Wyndham Clark and the steps being taken in response to his recent behavior,” a statement read. “Following multiple discussions with the USGA and OCC Board, a decision has been made that Mr. Clark will no longer be permitted on OCC property.

“Reinstatement would be contingent upon Mr. Clark fulfilling a number of specific conditions, including full repayment for damages, a meaningful contribution to a charity of the Board’s choosing, and the successful completion of counseling and/or anger management sessions.”

To this point, it seems those terms have not been met. The US Open will return to Oakmont in 2033, giving Wyndham Clark plenty of time to make good on his mistake.

How did the locker room photos get out? Kevin Kisner blames the USGA

Images of the damage went public on the weekend of the US Open. It didn’t take long for the photos to go viral, setting into action that domino effect of Clark’s apology and Oakmont’s ban.

Kevin Kisner had an interesting take on the situation during Sunday’s round of the British Open. He placed blame on the USGA.

“I’m not sure anyone in the situation handled it properly,” Kisner said. “Wyndham probably could’ve nipped that in the bud with an earlier or justifiable statement, but locker rooms are supposed to be sacred. I’m not sure how that picture got out. USGA can help with that.

“I think if everyone just sat at a table face to face, that situation could go away pretty quickly.”

Kisner believes the USGA shoulders some responsibility in making the tirade more of a story than it should’ve been. It’s a headline that could’ve been avoided.

While that may be true, Kisner is catching heat for minimizing Wyndham Clark’s actions and placing blame elsewhere.

Golf twitter is letting Kevin Kisner hear it. Clark made his own bed. Now, he must deal with the consequences.
