Nyckoles Harbor decided to focus only on college football during this past offseason. The rising junior put track and field aside as South Carolina enters the fall with legitimate hopes of making the Playoff.
He also completely transformed his body.
Harbor, fastest wide receiver in college football, committed to the Gamecocks as a five-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2023. Some programs considered him to be a defensive end at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds. Shane Beamer wanted him as a weapon on offense. Let him run and throw it deep!
However, Harbor’s career has not lived up to the hype thus far.
His stats are underwhelming.
South Carolina’s star pass-catcher totaled less than 600 receiving yards on just 36 catches in two seasons. Last year was much better than 2023 but his production was still not enough.
This upcoming fall is going to be different if his physical transformation is any indication.
Nyck Harbor decided to drop track and field to focus only on football back in January, which is a different approach than in years past. He made NCAA track stars look minuscule while qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials prior to the Paris Games. He would make them look even smaller today!

Football is the only focus in 2025 so Harbor lived in the gym over the last seven months and ate clean. His body looks completely different.
Nyck Harbor played last season at 235 pounds. Muscle weighs more than fat so I would imagine he is closer to 240 with training camp on the horizon. That’s scary.
SEC defensive backs cannot out-muscle or out-sprint Nyckoles Harbor. If he can show improvement as a route-runner, this is finally the year that he takes the next step. LaNorris Sellers is in the preseason conversation for the Heisman Trophy. His top pass-catcher will be a big part of that campaign.
