Arch Manning’s Mom Disavows Texas Quarterback’s Feisty Behavior As Haters Question Double Standard

Arch Manning Taunt Mom Reaction Push Steve Sarkisian

Arch Manning played the best game of his college football career against Sam Houston State on Saturday. The starting quarterback at Texas also showed the most emotion.

His mom was not thrilled with her son’s behavior.

Meanwhile, college football fans on the internet were split on what to think. One side of the aisle was thrilled to see a Manning show that much emotion. The other side of the aisle questions whey he does not receive the same criticism for his behavior as other, more “controversial” players. Why no flag?

Arch Manning got his swagger back.

It was a rough three-week stretch for the most highly-touted and highly-scrutinized quarterback in the country. Although the Longhorns only suffered a loss to the Buckeyes at Ohio State, their five-star signal-caller struggled to find a groove.

People actually thought he was injured because his throwing motion was so dysfunctional and because of an awkward grimace. Those same people forgot about uncle Peyton’s freshman year before they rushed to judgement after just three games.

Saturday was much better.

Arch Manning completed 18 of 21 pass attempts for 309 yards and three touchdowns without an interception during a blowout win over the Bearkats. He also ran for two touchdowns.

His behavior after the first score draw widespread scrutiny from fans across the country because of the opponent.

Manning stood over a Sam Houston defender after he ran through his attempted tackle. It resulted in an exchange of words once the defender got back to his feet.

Officials broke up the kerfuffle but they did not throw a flag.

Manning was surprised by the lack of penalty. As was his mother, who did not approve of the celebration.

Steve Sarkisian, on the other hand, loved what he saw from his quarterback.

“He’s at best when that emotion kind of comes out,” he said. “I think there was a lot built up in there from last week that he needed to get out.”

We’ll see what happens when Texas starts SEC play next weekend.

Is there a double standard?

The opinion of Manning’s unflagged taunting penalty depends on who you ask. Some people loved to see the fire. Some people thought it was performative against an inferior opponent.

There was also a second moment during the game that drew scrutiny. Arch Manning pushed Steve Sarkisian on the sideline. He was fired up about something.

As you could imagine, the internet ran wild with all kinds of opinions. Texas fans loved it.

Others were confused as to why Manning was not criticized the way someone like Shedeur Sanders would be criticized for the same behavior. What if Johnny Manziel pushed his head coach?

People say things just to say things. It’s not that serious.
