Memphis High School Band Circumvents Pathetic Football Ban By Showing Up With Obnoxious Kazoos

Memphis Central Band Kazoo Brighton Ban High School Football

Memphis Central High School has one of the best marching bands in the entire country. However, its most recent high school football opponent, Brighton High School, did not allow the band to perform.

That did not stop them from making their presence felt in the stands!

Memphis Central successfully executed one of the most brilliant trolls I have ever seen. And the Warriors won the high school football game, which makes it even sweeter.

Memphis Central questions Brighton’s motives.

Dr. Ollie Liddell serves as the band director at Memphis Central. His program is highly decorated.

In fact, there is no better jazz band in the entire world. The Warriors were named as the world champions back in May. A large number of those same band members also perform with the pep band. They’re legit!

Regardless of what happens during the game, Memphis Central is always going to win the fifth quarter.

And it’s been that way since the jump.

Thus, it was rather confusing when Brighton High School told Memphis Central’s band to stay home. Athletic director Chris Burgess made the following request:

“Looking ahead to our game this Friday here at Brughton, the school administration and I are requesting that the Memphis Central band not be present at the game. In the past both at Memphis Central and here at Brighton, the Memphis Central band has played during live ball situations. Our coaching staff and spectators have spoken to us about this issue. We appreciate your consideration in this matter.”

If Burgess’ allegations are true, the solution is very simple. Make sure Memphis Central does not play during live ball situations. Penalize the football team if it does.

To ban the visiting band all together is a cowardly move and local Bluff City legend Rattlebone Jones said “Brighton has done this several trips in a row.” Dr. Liddell does not understand why.

“Brian Crowson is a coward and I question the true motive behind this,” he wrote about Brighton’s principal.

Crowson did not respond. Soft.

The Warriors Marching Band showed up to the high school football game anyway.

The “village at Central” responded to the ban by purchasing tickets for the entire band. They showed up to Brighton with kazoos instead of instruments.

It was incredible. Memphis Central performed its entire routine just as it normally would with only kazoos and drumsticks, which might actually be even more annoying for Brighton than the actual instruments.

They rocked out on their kazoos throughout the entire game.
