Just a few months ago, social media influencer Makenna White went viral when she gave her followers a look behind the scenes at her relationship with PGA Tour player Jake Knapp.
It was a remarkably humanizing view of both White and Knapp, the latter of whom most people only perceived as a professional athlete they only see on TV.
Sadly, White tragically passed away this week at just 28 years old, a friend revealed on her Instagram page.

Jake Knapp Releases Statement On Tragic Passing Of Girlfriend Makena White
On Friday, Knapp released a statement addressing White’s tragic passing.
“Makena was such a thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate,” Knapp wrote in a statement to PEOPLE. “We shared so many unforgettable memories together, and now that she’s no longer with us, it’s a tough reality to comprehend. She had an incredible family, great friends, and her fun, outgoing energy will be missed by all of us. It’s an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak, especially her family and friends, who deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time.”
Knapp and White began dating in August 2023, according to an NBC broadcast after his win at the Mexico Open a year ago. After the victory, the PGA Tour posted a video on X of White’s reaction to Knapp’s victory.
Knapp, 31, is currently ranked 45th in the Official World Golf Rankings, the highest ranking of his PGA Tour career.
