The Los Angeles Dodgers took a 2-1 World Series lead over the Toronto Blue Jays with an exciting baseball win on Monday. Freddie Freeman sent the home crowd happy with a walk-off home run.

That, unfortunately, wasn’t the only moment that sparked cheers from the Dodger faithful. Fans were scolded on the air for their reaction to George Springer’s seventh-inning exit.

Springer is used to being booed in opposing ballparks. The hate stems from his time with the Houston Astros.

The outfielder was a member of the 2017 and 2018 clubs enthralled in an MLB cheating controversy. The team used a camera system to illegally steal opposing signs. Those signals were then relayed to Houston batters to alert hitters of upcoming pitch selection.

It helped the club win the ’17 World Series. That title came in seven games over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

As a result of the cheating the team was fined, lost draft picks, and saw its manager suspended. The championship, however, remained.

The Dodgers felt robbed of an opportunity to win the World Series. Nearly a decade later, Los Angeles is again battling Springer for a title.

George Springer is a Blue Jay.

He signed with the team ahead of the 2021 MLB season. He’s in the midst of his best year in Toronto in 2025.

The slugger is hitting a career-high .309 with 32 homers, 84 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases. He’s also fielding at a .988 clip.

Despite the Toronto affiliation, Los Angeles has not forgotten about his past with the Astros. They let him hear it as he entered Dodger Stadium for the first time.

Games 1 and 2 were held in Canada. The series flipped to the West Coast for Game 3. The fans were ready!

Springer was not-so-warmly welcomed each time he stepped up to the dish. That included during a seventh inning at-bat with the contest tied at 4-4.

The outfielder was initially booed. That response was to be expected. After swinging at the first pitch, however, he felt some discomfort in his back.

Springer eventually exited the game with an injury. Dodger fans celebrated that departure.

Joe Davis scolded the home crowd.

The FOX broadcast announcer was not a fan of the reaction. He quickly blasted those in attendance.

“This (injury) is going to take him out of the game,” he said while watching along. “This should not be cheered, ever, under any circumstances, no matter the history.”

It is not the first time fans have cheered while seeing George Springer hurt. During the ALCS, Seattle supporters responded in a similar fashion after the outfielder was hit by a pitch.

That reaction could be heard as Springer lay on the ground in the batter’s box. He later served up a cold dish of karma, ending the Mariners’ season with a three-run homer to send the Blue Jays to the World Series.

Los Angeles hopes it doesn’t receive the same fate!
