Tennessee High School Football Parents Outraged By Electric Celebration For Violent Collision

Brentwood Academy High School Football Hit

A group of parents at Brentwood Academy are not happy with the behavior of its high school football team. The players celebrated a violent collision that knocked the helmet off the head of their opponent.

Their behavior is apparently considered disrespectful.

Seeing that high school football, and football in general, is a violent game most fans of the sport will not see an issue with how they acted— especially because the player who got licked was okay. Some local Nashville parents disagree.

Brentwood Academy laid the lumber.

Brentwood Academy is likely going to finish the regular season with an undefeated record. The Eagles won their first eight games by a combined score of 314-79 and will close things out on Halloween against another far inferior opponent.

They beat Father Ryan 49-7 on Friday.

Brentwood took a five-touchdown lead with seven minutes and 41 seconds left in the first half. It was over by halftime.

Perhaps the biggest play of the day happened set up the Eagles’ fourth touchdown of the night. Mason Murphy delivered an absolute slobberknocker to the Irish kick returner on a punt in the second quarter. He blew him up around midfield.

The Father Ryan return man never saw Murphy coming and got crushed, which sent his helmet and the ball flying. Brentwood recovered the fumble.

Here’s another look at the big hit:

Goodness gracious!

High school football is a violent game.

Players, parents and coaches know what they sign up for when they agree to play high school football. There are going to be big hits. There is going to be barbarity.

It’s football.

That kind of thing is celebrated in the sport so Brentwood Academy was fired up by the huge hit and forced fumble. The Eagles went bonkers, which did not go over well with some of the parents at home. They did not like the celebration. Others thought it should’ve been a penalty.

“As a BA parent, I’m embarrassed that we’re celebrating such a brutal hit that could affect that young man for a very long time,” wrote a user on X named Chris.

“None of [the players] seemed concerned enough to check on him after the hit?” questioned Bobby K.

Fortunately, the Father Ryan kick returner was able to walk off of the field under his own power. And when push comes to shove, football is football. Not only was the hit clean, it was worthy of celebration.
