The Texas Children’s Houston Open is off an running in the Lone Star State this week. In the first round, former Oklahoma State golfer Kris Ventura (ranked 233rd in OWGR) recorded a ’10’ on the par-4 13th hole.
Putting a 10 on the scorecard is never fun, even for golfers who have handicaps of 15+. But to see a PGA Tour golfer put together a hole like this and then see the shot tracker of each shot, well, it’s a little baffling.
How Did Kris Ventura Get A 10 On A Par-4?!
I’m no stranger to 10’s over the years. In fact, there’s a popular meme going around to the effect of ‘if you needed a golfer go slice it off the tee and you would win $10 million but they could not know they had to slice it, which friend would you send this to’ and I’ve now received that meme twice. I’ve never met an O.B. area on the right side of the rough that didn’t love to see me coming…
Now with that in mind, Kris Ventura did not slice it off the tee box. In fact, he hit a 290-yard bomb off the tee which left him with only 114 yards to the pin. Surely he could get home from there in under 9 strokes, right???
Wrong.
This video of his shot-by-shot tracker on the 13th hole is comical. It is way funnier than it should be. Just when you think you know what is going to happen… Nope…. Check it out:

Just an incredible hole all around. And a lovely reminder than even the best golfers in the world have brain farts like the rest of us.
Somehow Kris Ventura was able to record a first round score of 76 (+6) after all that. He was even par going into that 13th hole while playing the back-9 first, and was able to string together two birdies (and a bogey) on the back-9 to finish at +6.
I wouldn’t say he totally salvaged the round but to bounce back like that after putting a 10 on the scorecard is impressive. I’m a fan now.
