The World Baseball Classic is in full swing as competing teams put national pride on the diamond. Team Mexico is earning respect for both on- and off-field reasons.
After a recent win over Brazil, players stayed back to clean the dugout at Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros. They are receiving online praise for how they treated the facility as visitors.
Mexico is competing in Pool B of the four-pool baseball event. Included in that five-team group are the US, Brazil, Great Britain, and Italy.
The top two teams will advance to the quarterfinals following the initial round-robin setup. At the moment, Mexico and the US are knotted at 2-0. They’ll meet on Monday for a chance to secure a first-place spot.
Italy is also 2-0 in group play.
Those three teams have been dominant thus far. Italy owns a 15-4 scoring advantage after games vs. Great Britain and Brazil. The United States and Mexico have been even more dominant.

The bats exploded in a 16-0 shutout in their most recent outing. The game was called after just six innings. That outcome pushed Mexico’s run differential to +22, a few runs better than the US (+18).
Mexico bashed four home runs in that contest while hitting .500 as a team. It comes as no surprise given the talent in the lineup.
The roster is littered with MLB players, headlined by Jarren Duran, Randy Arozarena, Alejandro Kirk, and Tijuan Walker.
They are familiar with the World Baseball Classic’s host venue.
Daikin Park has been home to the Astros since 2000, albeit under a few different names. Players treated the stadium with the utmost respect after the blowout win.

Players were seen sweeping the dugout after the victory. Trash was picked up. There was not a sunflower seed in sight.
It’s like they were never even there.

Team Mexico has grabbed attention from World Baseball Classic viewers due to offensive fireworks throughout the first two games. They earned their respect with this most recent commendable act.
