Chris Fowler says that he and Kirk Herbstreit are almost done with their role in the brand-new College Football 25 video game by EA Sports. They are set to wrap voiceover work in the coming days.
Its release is getting closer by the day!
Herbstreit recently divulged that the most-anticipated sports video game of all-time is likely going to drop in July. In the meantime, EA Sports is wrapping up all of the final touches.
That includes the broadcast booth. Herbstreit and Fowler will not be the only on-air duo to be included in the game. However, by nature of their status within the sport, they will be the primary booth.
A vast majority of the calls featured in College Football 25 are going to be ESPN’s A-team.
According to Fowler, “the effort and detail being put into the game is top-tier” and they are “deep in the fourth quarter in this process.” He and his partner have “one more joint session” where they will “simulate the booth banter.”
From there, they will record hundreds of player names for the first time ever. Prior to NIL, athletes could not be featured in the game under their actual names. This is the first game of the NIL era.
As a result, Fowler, Herbstreit and the like are going to be able to say the players’ names in the game instead of using generic terminology or their numbers. That’s pretty cool!
While it might seem like an easy job to just read from a script, Fowler explained that it is much harder than you might think. He actually chose to re-record a large portion of his calls because he did not like how they sounded when EA Sports provided him with a voiceover simulation of Ohio State vs. Michigan.
All of this goes to say that College Football 25 is going to look and sound as realistic as possible!
