He rocked his standard game day attire on the sideline despite demands for him to dress better.
This exhausting discourse started after last weekend’s loss to Vanderbilt. A group of fans who had never experienced a loss to the Commodores immediately started looking for an excuse and they blamed their first-year head coach’s attire.
Nick Saban always wore a collared shirt on the sideline.
DeBoer wore a t-shirt.
The choice of clothing did not go over well in Tuscaloosa, which completely crumbled on top of itself.

One local reporter wrote a scathing column about DeBoer’s shirt and suggested that Miss Terry Saban should be in charge of his wardrobe. It was a meltdown of epic proportions.

The cries of anger were so loud that they made their way back to DeBoer. He and his entire staff wore shirts with a collar at the press conference on Monday.

Saban’s successor also acknowledged the displeasure later in the week.

Despite all of the frustration about the t-shirt, Kalen DeBoer did not make any significant changes when Alabama hosted South Carolina at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday morning. Its head coach did not wear a collared shirt during pregame. (Nor did he wear a t-shirt.)
DeBoer wore a black hoodie on the sideline, just like he did in the other three home games.

The decision to stay consistent with his outfit was a statement. A vocal minority of Alabama fans are not going to dictate how this program operates and that starts with the head coach.
If Kalen DeBoer wants to wear a hoodie or t-shirt on the sideline, he is going to do so because that is how he operates. The knee will not bend.
