Taco Bell’s New ‘Name Your Price’ App Feature Is The Best Thing We’ve Seen This Year

Taco Bell

There was a time, not so long ago, where we lived in the golden era of fast food in the United States.

New items were coming out right and left. Brands were expanding into new states and cities, and prices were extremely affordable. I will never forget the days of rolling up to a McDonald’s drive-thru window, confidently saying I wanted two crispy chicken snack wraps and a medium fry and knowing they would ask me for my $6.38 in return.

Those days are long gone, except for one shining bastion of light in the fast food game: Taco Bell.

T-Bell has always been ol’ reliable. Sure, you are bound to regret it in the 24-72 hours after eating. And yes, all of their menu items are the same thing with varying degrees of crunchiness. But the Mexican* (*description used loosely) fast food chain has remained incredibly affordable when compared to its counters.

Taco Bell is so focused on making sure that you get value for your money that it recently added a name-your-price feature to its mobile app.

Now, it’s not exactly what you think. You cannot pay whatever you choose for what you want. Instead, Taco Bell’s app allows you to end the dollar amount you’d like to spend and then it generates several mix-and-match menu items for you to choose from.

Users can set a dollar amount anywhere from $5 to $25. You can also pin items to your order. So the feature will only random the items that you did not pin.

But there are some restrictions.

Drinks, freezes, combos, boxes, party packs, Meal for 2, Meal for 4, sauces, Passes, and Early Access products are not shown in the tool.

That sort of eliminates a large chunk of the Taco Bell many. But we still love the idea. And we love that Taco Bell remains steadfast in feeding Americas teens, college students and stoners for an affordable price.

¡Yo quiero Taco Bell para siempre!
