The Central Florida Knights fell to Big 12 rival Kansas on Tuesday night, 91-87. Head coach Johnny Dawkins was unhappy with how the final moments of that close loss played out.
The Jayhawks led the contest by three points with just seconds to play. A Knights player appeared to get fouled while heaving up a game-tying three-pointer.
That would’ve given UCF a chance to even the score at the charity stripe. Instead, officials ruled that the contact was made prior to the shot going up. The foul was called on the floor, eliminating those chances of getting three free throws.
Johnny Dawkins was irate on the sidelines. The head coach disagreed, believing that his player was in the act of shooting when contacted by the Kansas defender. It was a close call, but one that potentially had a major impact on the outcome.

You can be the judge on whether or not the correct call was made. Those on the UCF side believe a shooting motion was made. Kansas, and officials, thought otherwise.
Instead of three free throw attempts, the Knights got two chances from the line. Darius Johnson made one and missed one to bring the deficit to two points.
The Jayhawks were then able to connect on back-to-back attempts at the stripe to build a four-point lead, and effectively end the game. With the loss, UCF fell to 13-7. Kansas avoided the upset to improve to 15-5 on the year.
