Sean Kingston Facing Decades In Jail After He And His Mother Were Found Guilty Of Fraud

At one point in the early 2000s, Sean Kingston was one of the biggest names in the pop music industry. Kingston rose to fame with hit singles such as “Beautiful Girls,” “Fire Burning” and “Eenie Meenie.” Now, however, the 35-year-old Miami native, real name Kisean Paul Anderson, could be staring down a lengthy jail sentence after he and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Kingston, whose recent escapades include making music for Antonio Brown, faces up to 20 years in prison for each of the five counts he was convicted on.

An attorney for plantiff suing Kingston alleges that the music star used “basically a script, he says that he works with Justin Bieber, and obviously puts on a big show here, this is a rental house, he doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it and then he simply never pays.”

Sean Kingston And Mother Face Lengthy Jail Stints After Indisputable Evidence

Kingston’s mother took the stand in the trial and admitted to falsifying wires in an effort to protect her son from scammers by delaying payments for luxury items. The musician originally planned to take the stand as well, but ultimately decided again doing so.

Prosecutors presented several pieces of evidence, including a text to his mother that read, “I told you to make [a] fake receipt” followed by “so it [looks] like the transfer will be there in a couple [of] days.”

Police immediately took Turner into custody, citing prior legal issues. Kingston, meanwhile, posted $200,000 bail and his aunt offered up her home as collateral.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, July 11.
