Browns HC & GM Explain Why They Didn’t Look Happy After Drafting Shedeur Sanders

Browns head coach, Kevin Stefanski, and GM Andrew Berry did not look thrilled to draft Shedeur Sanders. On Saturday, the Browns took Sanders with the 144th pick in the NFL draft.

Both Stefanski and Berry were asked about their viral reaction to drafting Sanders.

“Well, yeah, I think sometimes when they show those clips,” Stefanski said, “it’s not timed up to exactly the right time. So I wouldn’t read too much into that.”

Berry added, “Yeah, I think we’re probably just tired from the weekend.”

While Berry and Stefanki didn’t look thrilled while drafting Sanders, they expect him to compete for the starting job.

“I think Shedeur has grown up in the spotlight,” Berry said, “but our expectation is for him to come in here and work and compete.”

“We view him as a highly accurate pocket passer,” Berry said. “He does a really good job of protecting the ball. He has enough of the physical characteristics, whether it’s arm strength or mobility. Like all young players, there are things to improve.”
