The Texas State baseball team bested instate foe Texas on the diamond Tuesday night to land its fourth straight win in Austin. The Bobcats trolled after the fact.
Closer Alex Valentin was the biggest culprit in the celebratory assault. He hit a vicious ‘Horns Down’ upon sealing victory.
The road team overcame a late deficit to take down the Longhorns in their own ballpark. Trailing 2-1 in the eighth frame, Texas State erupted for four runs to reclaim the lead.

The two teams headed to the ninth inning with the score still 5-2. Enter Alex Valentin.
The left-handed sophomore hails from Hollywood, FL. He’s in his first season with the program after spending last year at Nova Southeastern. He’s gone 4-1 with an ERA of 3.79 thus far.
Valentin’s been used in a variety of different roles by the Bobcats. He’s started four games. He’s pitched out of the bullpen in long relief. On Tuesday, he was asked to close out the final frame.
The Texas State pitcher’s gone viral throughout the baseball season due to a herky-jerky windup that’s impossible for hitters to time up.

He’s also made waves for his postgame celebrations. After sealing a victory over Texas A&M earlier this year, he hit the Aggies’ dugout with a Gladiator style thumbs down. He had a similar reaction on Tuesday!
Alex Valentin allowed one run on two hits and a pair of walks in the bottom of the ninth. He was able to get out of a jam with a lineout to second base. The pitcher then threw a vicious ‘Horns Down’ in the direction of the dugout.

The Bobcats are now unbeaten in their last four trips to Austin. They improved to 13-15 with the midweek win. Texas fell to 23-4 and will gear up for a three-game SEC set with Georgia this weekend.
