Kesha is currently on tour to promote her sixth studio album, Period. It has been met with mixed reactions.
However, the widespread backlash toward her “satanic” behavior seems to be specific to Utah.
Kesha, the artist formerly known as Ke$ha, embarked on the Tits Out Tour at the end of June. It will run through Sept. 28 in the United States before it picks back up again in Europe in March.
As you could imagine, her on-stage performances are… unique. To say they are “a bit out of the box” would be understated. It’s wild and crazy. It’s weird.
That is part of the appeal! Kesha marches to the beat of her own drum. Her fans know that.
People in the Beehive State apparently did not know what they signed up for. Especially Lisa Wilson, the mother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson. She described Kesha’s concert as a “weird satanic ritual” and warned others not to buy tickets. She told parents specifically not to bring their children or to let them go by themselves.
Lisa was not the only person in Utah to leave a negative review. Some people were frustrated by the amount of outfit changes and set breaks. Others wanted to hear more of her smash hits.
The reaction to Kesha’s tour stop in Utah was overwhelmingly negative. Lisa just happened to be the loudest voice from the biggest platform.
Kesha didn’t hit in Utah like she did in Boston.
The most recent stop of the Tits Out Tour brought Kesha to Mansfield, Massachusetts. She received a seven-minute standing ovation after she performed ‘Praying.’ SEVEN MINUTES!
The song ‘Praying’ is deeply emotional and personal. At its core, it is about overcoming adversity, finding strength in the most vulnerable situations and, ultimately, forgiving those who caused her pain.
Kesha could not hold back tears as the crowd stood, clapped and cheered for seven minutes. She was humbled and grateful. It was a really cool moment.
Needless to say, this reaction in Massachusetts was very different than the reaction in Utah. All of the initial negativity toward the Tits Out Tour started things off on the wrong note. It is much better received outside of the greater Salt Lake City area.
