Delaware absolutely dominated UTEP during their college football game in Newark on Saturday evening. Miners head coach Scotty Walden did not appreciate how his opponent ran up the score.
He went nuclear!
The 36-year-old college football coach criticized his opponent both on the field after the game and during his postgame press conference. It was tense.
Delaware destroyed UTEP.
The University of Delaware only made the transition to the FBS this season. This is the program’s very first year as a member of the Conference USA after 44 years on the FCS level of competition.
Despite the challenges that transition can bring, the Fightin’ Blue Hens won their sixth game of the season on Saturday to reach bowl eligibility. They are going to play in the postseason!
It was a dominant victory in the final game of the regular season to .
Delaware beat two-win UTEP by 30 points, 61-31, with more than 500 yards of total offense. Quarterback Nick Minicucci completed 24 passes for 311 yards with three touchdowns and ran for 47 yards and one touchdown. Three different running backs totaled more than 45 yards. Kyre Duplessis finished as the leading receiver with four catches for 104 yards.
However, it was the defense that really got it done. Miners quarterback Skyler Locklear threw five interceptions and the Blue Hens recovered a fumble.
Scotty Walden was FURIOUS!
Although the final score reflects a 30-point victory for Delaware, it was almost 27. The Blue Hens called a timeout with only one second left on the clock to kick a field goal, already up 58-31.

He also expressed his frustration during his postgame press conference.
“I told (our team) I’m proud of the seniors and proud of the character. Classless by Delaware calling a timeout and kicking a field goal (at the end). It’s an embarrassing look for their head coach.”

Walden might have a point but his team is also the worst team in the country so maybe that should be the focus. And this would not be an issue in the first place if the Miners defense was able to stop its opponent! If you don’t want them to score, don’t let them.
