Deion Sanders was not happy with his son, Shilo’s, performance following a 31-28 loss to conference rival Kansas State. The Colorado football coach publicly ripped the safety after the fact.
Shilo Sanders made headlines for many of the wrong reasons on Saturday as he was caught out of position in playmaking opportunities.
One poor play went particularly viral when he was sent to his knees thanks to a vicious juke move by Wildcats running back DJ Giddens.
Sanders attempted to meet Giddens just past the line of scrimmage after a handoff, and quickly wound up on the turf.
Giddens was able to continue running for another chunk of yardage before being tracked down by one of Sanders’ Colorado teammates.
It was just one of what Deion Sanders believed to be many instances of subpar defense on Shilo Sanders’ night. After the game, he was asked what he thought of the overall performance.

“I thought he played horrible,” the coach said. “I thought he was rusty. I thought he didn’t have his footing. I thought he wasn’t breaking down… But he’s going to do better. I know what he has in him.”
It’s worth noting that Shilo Sanders has missed the last three games with an injury suffered against Nebraska. The rust showed.
Despite poor debut showing, the defensive back finished third on the team with seven tackles, six of which were solo.
That’s something to build upon as the Buffs look to shake off the narrow loss to the Wildcats and get back in the win column next weekend against Arizona.
Deion Sanders says he expects improvement from his son as the year continues. We’ll see if Shilo can meet the expectation.
