Davante Adams would like to be traded and the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to trade him. However, the organization is playing hardball when it comes to finances.

The process is taking longer than expected as a result.

Multiple NFL teams have reached out to the Raiders and general manager Tom Telesco to see what he wants in exchange for the star wide receiver. It is not a secret that Aaron Rodgers would love to reunite with his friend and former teammate as the New York Jets hope to turn around their season.

Adams will likely end up in a different uniform prior to the trade deadline on Nov. 5. He has requested a change of scenery and Las Vegas doesn’t really have another option at this point. Although the organization continues to say it will hold on to the 31-year-old pass-catcher if it cannot find the right deal, there isn’t much of a reason to do so. The Raiders are definitely bluffing.

Their hands are tied after the public trade request and they need to salvage the market for Adams.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Jets, Saints and Bills are the primary suitors at this point. A deal could get done as soon as this week but finances are playing a big role in the delay.

I’ll tell you this, compensation remains a holdup as does the contract. The Raiders are adamant they don’t want to pay a dime of the contract if they move Adams to another team.

Las Vegas signed Adams to a five-year, $140 million extension in 2022. His base salary for this season is $16.89 million. He is also under contract for $36.25 million in 2025 and 2026.

The Raiders do not want to be on the hook for any of that money.

Whatever team is willing to pay up will have the best chance of acquiring Davante Adams at this point. It would owe him $72.5 million over the next two years plus his pro-rated salary for the remaining games during the 2024 NFL season. And that doesn’t even include the initial compensatory package, which Las Vegas hopes will include a high draft pick. Not cheap!
