Doug Gottlieb continues to be the most unusual story in college basketball. His first season as a head coach has been an overwhelming disaster and the latest incident is perhaps the most unfortunate.

Northern Kentucky’s bus committed a (minor) hit and run on Valentine’s Day.

Gottlieb parked his Hummer EV outside of the Kress Center, home to Green Bay’s college basketball teams. He does not have his own reserved parking space with his name on a sign. He does not have a special parking spot that shields him from the elements.

As a result, the 49-year-old head coach parks as close to the back door of his office as possible. According to Kyle Boone of CBS Sports, the wind chill on Feb. 14 was in the single digits and the snow was “coming down hard enough to affect visibility.” Gottlieb parked his large SUV right next to the loading dock and ran into the gym. Green Bay was defeated by Northern Kentucky that night.

Upon return to his vehicle after the loss, Gottlieb discovered that it had been hit. Nobody left a note. There was only one way to determine the culprit— security camera footage.

The visiting team’s bus backed into his Hummer and a Nissan Kick that was parked right next to him before it left town and returned home. It was captured, in full, by the Kress Center’s surveillance footage camera but neither the Norse nor the bus driver gave any indication as to what happened. Check it out:

Doug Gottlieb found out about what happened after losing by 13 to Northern Kentucky. A police officer was standing next to his Hummer and informed him of the unreported accident. All he could do was laugh.

It was yet another unfortunate happening during a whirlwind first year as a Division-I college basketball head coach for Gottlieb. Salt in the wound, if you will.

And to make matters worse, he got hit again while in his Hummer less than 12 hours later. The damage was much worse the second time around.

I was driving home behind a snow plow and then out of nowhere he just put it in reverse. I tried backing up, but he didn’t see me. Next thing I know he just f—– nails me.

Did Gottlieb lay on his horn once the snowplow started to reverse? He did not say. Either way, the snowplow never saw him and it resulted in his second car-related incident in a span of 24 hours. Brutal.
